McKinley Furniture is proud to be the
exclusive retailer of carvings created by
Jesse Adams. Co-Champion of the 2007 Tupper Lake Woodsmen's Day's,
Quick Carve Competition.
A
Native
of of Malone, New York, Jesse Adams is a master at creating
chainsaw art. Jesse's love affair with chainsaw carving began in early childhood
while working with his father 1998 Speed Carving Champion Elwood "Woody" Adams.
It didn't take long
for Jesse to master
the art of chainsaw carving. His
passion for
carving has led to his becoming one of the best-known
and
most sought after carvers
in the
United States.
Always
willing to go the extra measure, Jesse takes as much time as
needed to sketch,
design, and listen to the wood. His passion to carve and the
ability
to envision the finished piece before
setting saw to wood, makes Jesse's carvings
as unique
as it gets.
Inspiration comes in many
forms. First and foremost is the artist's passion for
creating.
Their most
awe-inspiring works are derived from the animals he sees in the
Adirondack
countryside.
Before saw touches wood, Jesse visualizes the
completed sculpture in full detail and finish. Once
the self-imposed challenge
is established,
the sawdust flies to reveal the replication of what
he has
seen.
The many custom
pieces he produces are the result of brainstorming a specific
topic or
subject with
a customer, and sketching out an image until it becomes vivid in his
mind.
Custom
orders account for approximately 70% of all carvings.
Last is the peace
he finds in the quiet solitude of the backwoods and lakes near his home
in the
Adirondack Mountains. A hike, a climb, canoeing, or fishing on nearby Lake
Meacham, sitting
quietly watching an Eagle, or whitetail deer in its natural habitat is a joy
that creates a oneness with
the environment, that can only be
appreciated by first hand
experience.

To begin:
Unless a specific species of wood is desired by the customer, all
of the
sculptures are carved from native white pine.
After being shaped and
sculpted by the artist, each piece is liberally coated with
Ethylene Glycol
(Antifreeze) to stabilize the moisture in the wood. Then a 50/50 mixture of
Linseed oil (Raw) and Mineral Spirits, to seal & prepare the surface for the
final process of
5-10 coats of Phenolic Resin Based, a Marine Spar Varnish. High
Gloss Finish is the 1st
choice as it gives the best protection against the weather and with this process,
Adirondack
Chain Saw Carvings,
offers a LIFETIME GUARANTEE!
* NOTE: Semi-gloss & Satin Finish is also available, but
because of the weathering
factor of these finishes, we are unable to guarantee this
method of finish.
A Linseed Oil finish is also available, giving the very rustic-looking
appearance, but it also requires constant care due to the unstable nature of the
wood and it's care. Its tendency to soak into the piece and dry on the surface
promotes cracking unless ongoing measures are taken in a consistent matter to
prevent this from happening. The choices are totally up to the customer.
Custom orders are
unlimited in design, size, and price range. We
welcomes
all custom orders, and enjoys the challenge
of creating
custom
orders! With a list of satisfied
customers throughout the
world, you are sure to
treasure
your piece of art for a lifetime.
